The latest VisitScotland newsletter, as well as containing a Homecoming 2014 video with great landscapes and weird music but doesn't mention the Scottish Borders, also has a link to a family history site for Glasgow that I've not seen before.
It turns out to be the new Mitchell Library family history centre.
It has a blog and a wide variety of family history and social history guides.
